Endocrinology

Endocrinology is the branch of medicine dealing with hormones and hormonal dysregulation related to the endocrine glands such as adrenal, thyroid, parathyroid, pituitary, hypothalamus and gonadal dysfunction.

The dynamic endocrine tests are conducted within the Medical Investigation Unit located at the end of outpatient 3 and both short and long tests are performed for the patients seen in the general endocrine clinics requiring follow up.

The team facilitate and lead a regional educational meeting for the clinicians and trainees in the region once every three months to discuss complex patients. This forum provides a platform for sharing knowledge as well as training.

The department supports undergraduate medical students from Keele University and also provides training opportunities for Foundation doctors, Core Medical trainees and Specialist Registrars on the West Midlands higher specialist rotational training programme in Endocrinology, Diabetes Mellitus and General (Internal) Medicine.
