UHNM executive celebrates double national award success
University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust’s (UHNM) Chief Digital Information Officer has received two national awards in recognition of her leadership and partnership work.
Amy Freeman was named among the CIO 100 UK at the CIO 100 Awards UK 2026, which celebrates leading chief information officers from sectors including banking, retail, charities and healthcare.
She also received a special award for Strategic Partnerships and Ecosystem Collaboration showcasing her work with teams and organisations both within and outside UHNM.
Amy said: “To be recognised as one of the top 100 CIOs across all industries with bigger budgets and resources is something I’m really proud of.
“The second award was a complete shock. Working in partnership and building good relationships with other teams organisations and our suppliers is really important to me, so to have that recognised by an independent body makes me very proud. I thought I’d come away with one award, but I’m mega chuffed to have come away with two.”
The award highlighted a number of Amy’s projects and partnerships including work to introduce technology to help track beds around UHNM.
Her wider work supporting NHS digital staff across the West Midlands and contributing to the NHS 10 Year Health Plan was also praised.
She added: “Although my name is on the award you can’t do it without your team. I set the direction and help build those relationships but it’s the team who deliver the work.
“What they achieve with the budget we have, and often in very difficult circumstances, is frankly remarkable and these awards are absolutely a testament to the work they do.”
