UHNM discharge facilitator scoops Employee of the Month
A University Hospitals of North Midlands staff member responsible to ensuring patients are able to return home as soon as they are well enough to following treatment in hospital has been praised for the difference she makes to their stay.
Shirley Munro, a discharge facilitator from County Hospital, has now been awarded UHNM Employee of the Month award for supporting the nursing team with patient discharges and ensuring they are accurate and on time.
Shirley was nominated for delivering safe discharge processes by liaising with different departments to organise discharges safely. She has also been recognised the way she reassures relatives and patients who are anxious, empathically listening to them and making safe patient centred discharge plans.
Amy Freeman, UHNM Chief Digital Information Officer said: “Congratulations to Shirley, it is great to hear how Shirley ensures discharges are carried out safely and on time. It’s so lovely for the Executive Team to be visible at County Hospital, especially when we have the privilege of giving an award like Employee of the Month, it’s amazing. The morale it boosts and the motivation it gives to those who’ve been nominated for such a worthy piece of work.”
Shirley said: “I am really happy to be awarded Employee of the Month. It is a team effort and I feel very proud to work as a member of team 15. I am overwhelmed to receive the award and to be nominated by a Staff Nurse who I have great respect for.”
