Staff and partners come together for annual UHNM Showcase event
Almost 150 staff from across University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) have come together to celebrate research, innovation, education and improvement at the UHNM Annual Showcase.
The annual event took place at the Wade Conference Centre on Monday (12 October), bringing together staff and healthcare partners to share their work through a series of presentations and posters.
Presentations throughout the day covered research, innovation, education and continuous improvement, with staff and teams sharing work ranging from clinical research and new treatments to digital technology, staff education and new ways of improving services for patients.
Those attending were also able to vote for their favourite presentations and posters with awards presented at the end of the day.
Speaking at the Showcase, Chris Bird, deputy director of strategy and innovation at UHNM, said: “Research and innovation have an important role to play in helping us respond to some of the biggest challenges facing the NHS, whether that’s improving outcomes and safety for patients, responding to increasing demand or developing our workforce.
“We have lots of ideas across UHNM and the challenge is making sure we create the opportunities to explore them and where we know something works turn those ideas into everyday practice.”
The event also featured a patient story from Michelle Craggs, founder of Parent Engagement Group in Stoke (PEGiS), and a marketplace where colleagues could find out more about work taking place across UHNM and with partner organisations.
Awards were presented for the best oral and poster presentations in research, innovation, education and improvement.
