Flu and Covid-19 Vaccinations available for eligible patients UHNM patients
Adult patients attending University Hospitals of North Midlands for an outpatient appointment are to be offered a flu and Covid-19 vaccination if eligible.
UHNM has been given additional funding to be able to provide a vaccination service to all patients aged 18-year-old or over who have a long term condition or anyone over the age of 65-years-old at both Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital, Stafford.
Today Emyr Phillips, UHNM Head of Infection Prevention, said: “We are introducing Covid-19 and flu vaccination for adult patients with eligible clinical at risk conditions and aged 18 years or over in Trust outpatients.
“This service aims to make these vital vaccines more accessible to patients who are at significantly increased risk of severe infection and emergency admission due to infection.”
Vaccinators will be co-located with the UHNM staff vaccination team enabling both patients and staff to be vaccinated at both hospitals.
The vaccination service at UHNM means patients can access the vaccines through the Trust should they prefer to instead of their GP or community pharmacist.
Ann-Marie Riley, UHNM Chief Nurse, said: “There has never been a more important time to make sure our patients and those caring for them are protected against serious illnesses such as the flu.
“We are asking everyone who is at risk of being affected by the flu to get vaccinated this winter. By having the flu and covid-19 vaccination, people will help protect themselves and others from what can be a severe, and sometimes fatal illness.”
Vaccinations are also available at community pharmacists.
