Following major investment in recent years, County Hospital has become a leading centre for elective care, with modern facilities supporting planned surgery, diagnostics and specialist services.
Dedicated facilities including the Day Case Unit, Breast Care Unit, North Midlands Hand Centre and Staffordshire Treatment Suite are helping patients receive timely treatment in state-of-the-art surroundings.
There are more than 650 parking spaces on site, along with a restaurant, WHSmith and bakery. A free shuttle bus service also operates between County Hospital and Royal Stoke University Hospital.
Breast Care Unit
Opened in April 2026, County Hospital's Breast Care Unit provides assessment, diagnosis, treatment and support for patients referred with breast concerns. The modern facility brings consultations, imaging and support services together in one location, helping to make appointments and tests more convenient for patients. The unit includes mammography and ultrasound facilities alongside dedicated consultation and counselling rooms
Day Case Unit
The Day Case Unit provides care for patients having planned surgery who do not need to stay in hospital overnight. Opened in 2025, the purpose-built unit offers modern facilities for patients undergoing procedures including orthopaedic, colorectal, ENT and upper gastrointestinal surgery. The unit has been designed to provide a comfortable environment and help patients return home as quickly and safely as possible following treatment.
North Midlands Hand Centre
The North Midlands Hand Centre provides specialist treatment for a range of hand and wrist conditions, including carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger and wrist injuries. The purpose-built facility includes its own theatre and recovery area, helping patients receive treatment in a dedicated setting.
