Get involved in improving care

We are looking for patients, carers, families, members of the public and staff who would like to help shape how co-production develops across UHNM.

You do not need any previous experience or specialist knowledge. We are interested in hearing from people who want to share their experiences and ideas to help improve care.

If you choose to get involved, you can:

• Share your experiences and ideas

• Help shape future resources and guidance on this internet page

• Join monthly co-production workshops in a way that works for you

You can take part as much or as little as you feel comfortable with.

We Learned

The purpose of the page wasn't clear.

Added a clearer explanation of co-production and why the page exists.

People need to understand the purpose before they can decide whether to get involved.

There was too much text

Reduced wording and started making the page more visual and accessible.

Simplicity matters. People want to quickly find what they need without reading large amounts of text.

We needed a stronger call to action.

Added the "We Need You" banner.

Clear invitations to participate help people understand that their involvement is genuinely wanted.

Staff wanted practical help, not just information about co-production.

Created the first guidance resource and developed a draft UHNM Co-Production Framework

People need practical examples and simple starting points to build confidence.

The page should answer real user questions.

We are restructuring content around questions such as "What is it?", "Why should I do it?", "When should I involve people?" and "Where do I start?"

Designing around user needs is more helpful than designing around organisational structures.

Make it easier for patients, carers and the public to get involved.

Added a registration route for the website design meeting and continued discussions about how people can express interest in future opportunities.

People are often willing to help if the route into involvement is clear and easy to access.

Include more real-life examples of co-production.

Learning examples are being expanded and a route for staff to submit their own examples is being developed.

Small everyday improvements are often just as valuable as large projects and help people see what good co-production looks like in practice.

The page should be easier to find.

We proposed a prominent "Your Voice Matters" button on the UHNM homepage.

The discussion highlighted how important visibility and accessibility are if we want to broaden participation.

Add a "Your Voice Matters" button to the homepage.

Communications reviewed the proposal but were unable to add additional homepage navigation tiles because of wider website design and governance arrangements.

Although the button cannot be added, Communications have proposed working with us to create a wider Get Involved section bringing together co-production, patient experience, feedback and involvement opportunities in one place, helping create a more joined-up experience for patients and carers.
