Feedback on Breast Care Unit at County Hospital, Stafford

Our Breast Care Unit at County Hospital looks after people with different breast conditions, both cancerous and non-cancerous. Every year, we help to diagnose and treat around 650 new cases of breast cancer, as well as caring for people who come through regular screening or with symptoms.

We’re delighted to share that a brand-new Breast Care Unit will be opening in Spring 2026! Once the new unit is open, the current one will close.

The new space has been designed to feel calm and welcoming, with state-of-the-art X-ray equipment and more space in each room. We’ve also worked hard to make sure the layout helps everything flow smoothly for both patients and staff.

We’d really love to hear from local people about how we can make the new unit work best for everyone who uses it.

How You Can Get Involved

Stage 1 – Visit the current unit We’ll invite you to come and have a look around the current unit and share your thoughts about what works well and what could be improved.

· Please let us know if you have any accessibility needs, such as wheelchair access, so we can make your visit comfortable.

Stage 2 – See the plans for the new building On the same day, we’ll show you the design plans for the new unit and chat about how we can make sure it feels patient-friendly and easy to use.

· If you need any of the information in a different format, such as large print, sent in advance, or with alt text, just let us know.

Stage 3 – Visit the new unit Once the new building is ready to welcome visitors (early 2026), we’d love to invite you back to see it in person and get some final feedback on the unit.

Choosing Your Visit Time

There are three time slots to visit the current unit: 18th November at 2pm, 26th November at 10am and 10th December at 12 noon. Please only choose one time slot to attend. Each session will have space for up to five people, so everyone can share their thoughts.

The visit will take approximately 2 hours (1 hour for looking around the unit and 1 hour for looking at the designs). We will reimburse travel expenses and provide refreshments.
