Staffordshire Children’s Hospital at Royal Stoke was launched 20 March 2020 providing a designated specialist centre for treating children and young people across Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire and surrounding areas. This hospital within a hospital is part of the University Hospitals of North Midlands (UHNM) Royal Stoke site where we are proud of our new status and the opportunities that it will bring over the next five years.

The focus and priorities have been informed by feedback from our staff, our partners and most importantly from our patients, parents and their families. Our aims and programmes of work are aligned with what our 2 Local Authorities want to achieve - around keeping children healthy and safe.

We provide a dedicated children’s emergency department, two intensive care units (Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) and Children's Intensive Care (CICU)) two children's wards as well as an outpatients area and a child development centre. Indoor and outdoor play areas, classrooms, cafes and coffee shops are all provided and have facilities which cater for children from across the area and beyond.

We have built a reputation for providing first class health services relating to a range of common childhood problems, injuries and conditions.
Young patients have access to specialist clinical teams and their expertise, who care for children with complex conditions or medical problems. Many of these specialty areas are at the forefront of treatment in the UK which has led to a growing international reputation for excellence.

Staffordshire Children’s Hospital at Royal Stoke is a centre of excellence in many disciplines, more than a regional children’s centre and in many specialties equal to more well known children's hospitals in their cities, including those in London.
