Interpreter Service

If you are due to come to our hospital for an outpatient appointment or a diagnostic test and you require an interpreter please ask the person who is booking the appointment for you to tell us this at the time of booking. This will allow us to pre-book the interpreter for your appointment. For foreign language interpretation this may be provided via the telephone or face to face. Patients who require sign language interpretation can request that this is provided by either an ASSIST or DEAFLINKS interpreter.

If you are a patient in our hospital and you require the services of an interpreter this can be arranged for you by the ward staff. An interpreter can be pre-booked if you have a planned date of admission. Please raise this request either with the medical secretary or the pre-admissions nurse. If your admission to hospital is an emergency an interpreter will be made available as soon as possible following your admission. Visual aids will be used by the ward staff to assist with communication until the interpreter is available. Patients who require sign language interpretation can request that this is provided by either an ASSIST or DEAFLINKS interpreter.
