Think Well (Mental Wellbeing)

•    It’s normal to feel worried before surgery.
•    These tips can help you feel calmer and more in control.

Simple Ways to Feel Better

•    Ask questions about your surgery — knowing more can make it less scary.
•    Try calm breathing or relaxing music.
•    Talk to someone you trust — family, friends, or your care team.
•    Keep busy with things you enjoy, like reading, pets, or gentle hobbies.
•    If your worries feel too big, your GP can help.

Five Ways to Look After Your Mind

•    Connect – spend time with people who care about you.
•    Be active – walking or gentle movement can lift your mood.
•    Keep learning – try something new, even something small.
•    Give – a smile or kind word can help you and others feel better.
•    Be mindful – take slow breaths and notice what’s around you.
