UHNM director honoured with outstanding achievement award
A University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) director has been presented with an outstanding achievement award in recognition of her NHS career spanning more than 40 years.
Lorraine Whitehead, director of estates, facilities and PFI was honoured during UHNM’s recent ‘Night Full of Stars’ staff awards ceremony.
The award, which is personally selected by Dr Simon Constable, UHNM chief executive, recognises an individual’s exceptional contribution to the Trust over many years.
Lorraine’s NHS career began in the 1980s as an administrative trainee on a youth training scheme. Since then she has held a variety of managerial roles across UHNM and was appointed director of estates, facilities and PFI in 2017.
Presenting the award, Dr Constable said: “With around twelve thousand people working and volunteering within our hospitals, choosing just one recipient for this award was most difficult, but Lorraine’s contribution to UHNM has been significant, varied and impressive. She is a genuine champion for our patients and staff, and a role model for so many individuals and teams. Her dedication and achievements over 40 years are truly outstanding.”
Speaking after receiving the award, Lorraine said: “I’m shocked to be recognised in this way for all the years I’ve worked at UHNM. I love my job and don’t expect any real recognition, so to be awarded this tonight is incredibly humbling. Staff awards are so important because given how challenging things can be, we need to pause and reflect on the enormity of our collective achievements. Every day at UHNM, amazing people do the most amazing things.”
The annual Night Full of Stars awards took place on 7 November at the Bet365 stadium to celebrate the exceptional dedication and achievements of UHNM staff and volunteers across all areas.
