UHNM Chief Executive Award Winner: Joseph Orosun
An organisational development (OD) consultant from University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) has received recognition for his contribution towards race equality and inclusion across the Trust.
Joseph Orosun has been awarded UHNM’s Chief Executive Award by Dr Simon Constable after being nominated jointly by Jane Haire, chief people officer, Sadaf Butt, OD consultant and Charlotte Lees, OD, culture and inclusion business partner.
Presented during Race Equality Week, the award recognises Joseph’s exceptional leadership as outgoing chair of the UHNM Ethnic Diversity Network and the positive and lasting impact he’s had on race equality at UHNM.
Jane Haire, chief people officer, said: “It’s a privilege to recognise Joseph Orosun as he receives the Chief Executive Award for his outstanding leadership as chair of the Ethnic Diversity Staff Network. Throughout his time in the role, Joe has championed belonging at UHNM, bringing colleagues together and inspiring many to embrace diversity as a core value. His support for colleagues, driving impactful campaigns, or guiding the Network through challenging time have been exceptional.”
Sadaf Butt said: “During his time as chair, Joseph helped raise the profile and influence of the Ethnic Diversity Network, ensuring that the voices and experiences of ethnically diverse colleagues were represented across UHNM. His work has helped shape organisational priorities and ensure that inclusion, fairness and equity remain at the heart of the organisation.
“Joseph also provided a compassionate and proactive response during the period of social unrest following the Southport attack. He offered reassurance and support to colleagues who felt vulnerable or targeted, while working with senior leaders to ensure UHNM’s response was visible, supportive and reflected the Trust’s values during a challenging period.
“Joseph has led key initiatives, including the UHNM Language Guidance and wider anti-racism work, supporting respectful communication and collaboration across the organisation. He has also mentored emerging leaders and volunteers, helping build confidence, skills, and continuity for the future leadership of the Ethnic Diversity Staff Network.”
Joseph said: “It’s an honour to receive this award, and the kind words shared during the presentation have really moved me. Thank you to my team for thinking of me and for the support we’ve given one another.”
Presenting the award, Dr Simon Constable, said: "This award is very well deserved, and particularly apt during Race Equality Week. Joseph’s leadership, commitment and dedication have made a real difference in promoting equality and inclusion across the Trust."
