My name is Richard Burnham and I am a consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at UHNM and County Hospitals.
My areas of interest are orthognathic surgery, facial trauma management and TMJ disorders.
I qualified from the University of London with a Bachelor of Dental surgery in 2002. After completing a training year in dental practice I worked in a number of maxillofacial surgery jobs, while completing my Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons England.
In 2005 I entered medical school to complete my second degree in London and qualified with a distinction in clinical sciences. I did my foundation training in the West Midlands and my core surgical training in Kent.
I was appointed to the West Midland rotation for higher surgical training in 2011 and was awarded my Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeon in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2015. During my training I undertook a fellowship in advanced trauma reconstruction at the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham.
I have an interest in education and teaching. I have twice been awarded an honorary lectureship at the Royal College of Surgeons and during my higher surgical training have completed a Masters in Education (Management and Leadership).
