Dr Barker is a general cardiologist with specialist interests in heart failure and cardiac devices. Previous posts include working as a Consultant at Wirral University Teaching Hospitals and Specialist Registrar at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. She completed an MD researching cardiovascular function during pregnancy at the University of Leeds.
Her areas of interest and expertise include heart failure, pacemakers, cardiac resynchronisation devices and implantable cardioverter defibrillators. Additional specialist interests include maternal heart disease in pregnancy and aortopathies, such as Marfan syndrome. She is the Educational Lead for the department and enjoys teaching and mentoring medical students, junior doctors and specialist nurses.
