UHNM doctor joins prestigious Healthcare Leadership Academy Scholars programme
A foundation Doctor from University Hospitals of North Midlands has been selected to join the Healthcare Leadership Academy (HLA) Scholars programme, a prestigious scholarship set up to develop and nurture healthcare leaders of the future.
Rand Intabli, 26, from Syria is a UHNM foundation doctor and has worked at UHNM since August 2022, working over the past year in paediatrics, geriatrics, general medicine, and general surgery and is currently working in general practice at Furlong Medical Centre.
Rand completed a rigorous selection process of over 141 applications from across 27 countries, to join the academy’s cohort for the 2023/24 academic year.
The HLA scholarship recognises healthcare students and professionals with proven leadership abilities and gives them the opportunity to take their leadership skills to the next level. This year’s cohort has a mix of medical students from across all clinical specialties, including doctors, nurses and dentists.
Rand, said: “I am grateful and honoured to have secured a place on the Healthcare Leadership Academy Scholarship Programme. I am looking forward for a year of growth and meaningful contributions to healthcare leadership.”
The HLA programme was formed in response to the demand from young clinicians and medical students to learn about leadership. The aim of the programme is to inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals and develop their understanding of leadership.
Dr George Miller, Executive Chair of The Healthcare Leadership Academy, said: “The HLA was set up to nurture, empower and support healthcare workers. It was founded on that simple premise that clinical leaders should be given advancement not based on where they came from, what clinical rank they have achieved, or who they know, but instead according to their strengths and their qualities.
