Cardiac Physiology Team at County Hospital scoop Team of the Month

The Cardiac Physiology team from County Hospital have been awarded Team of the Month in recognition for their response when a patient went into cardiac arrest in an un-manned waiting room.

The alarm was initially raised by another patient in the waiting room with the team quick to respond. Trainee Echocardiographer Suzanne plumb, Echocardiographer Liz Goat and Jennie ward and Cardiac Assessment Nurse Michelle Beeston, worked together to provide immediate life support and successfully resuscitated the patient in the waiting area of the clinical investigations unit.

The patient was stabilised and transferred to Royal Stoke University Hospital where they are receiving on-going care in the Coronary Care Unit. Working together, the team ensured the best care was given to the patient.

Helen Ashley, Deputy Chief Executive, said: “Well done to the Cardiac Physiology team for working together and successfully saving a patient’s life. I am proud to present the Team of the Month award to them, a big thank you to the team for their quick-thinking and team work to ensure the patient’s life was saved.”
