Maternity visiting at UHNM

Following the latest announcement about the decision to postpone some operations , we have had some questions related to Maternity.

We have recently reviewed our current Maternity visiting times and the number of birth partners that can accompany women to appointments and during birth, and at this current time there will be no changes to visiting. (see here for current visiting guidance https://www.uhnm.nhs.uk/patients-and-visitors/visiting/)

Unlike in neighbouring areas, where visiting may have been relaxed, the rates of Covid-19 in Stoke-on-Trent remain high and are increasing. Coronavirus remains a serious health risk and we must stay cautious to help protect you and others. However, please be reassured that the situation is constantly under review.

Before attending the hospital:
• If you think you have symptoms stay at home and take a PCR test
• Take a lateral flow test before attending the hospital for appointments or birth
• Wear a face covering
• Wash your hands with soap regularly, and for at least 20 seconds
• Get vaccinated
