University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust appoints two new Board members

Following significant interest and competitive interviews University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is delighted to announce it has appointed two new members to its Trust Board.

Tanya Bowen joins as a non-executive director from the IT and digital industry sector where she has led a long and distinguished career with extensive experience on the delivery of complex IT projects for global organisations. As well as her strategic emerging technologies experience, Tanya has a wide range of volunteering experience and is currently a Royal Voluntary Service Responder and a St John Ambulance Vaccinator Volunteer.

Shaista Gohir OBE joins as a new associated non-executive director bringing with her a wealth of experience in the BAME civil society sector, as well as working in complex environments at a very senior level with expertise in governance and scrutiny. Shaista is Commissioner on Child Sexual Abuse / Exploitation Inquiry, Women’s Voices Lead to Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, Chair/Trustee of Muslim Women’s Network UK and part of the National Police Chief’s Stakeholder Group on Domestic Abuse.

David Wakefield Chairman of University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust said: “I am delighted that both Tanya and Shaista will be joining the UHNM Trust Board. They have exceptional skills which will add to the diverse knowledge and experience on our Board. We have learned a great deal through the pandemic about how we can do things differently and this has included using new IT solutions to support our patients and our staff. We want to build on this going forward and work with our communities closely to further develop our services for future generations.”

Tayna’s and Shaista’s terms of office commence on the 1 June and run for two years.
