UHNM’s drive-thru Covid testing service is now seeing more than 150 people per day. Staff on the ‘Pre-Ams’ (Pre-Admission Management Service) teams at County Hospital and Royal Stoke work tirelessly in all weathers to test patients who are coming into hospital for planned procedures, as well as staff and their families who have key symptoms. This new service was set up in direct response to the pandemic and is delivered in addition to the teams’ day jobs.

Pre-Ams have been given the Team of the Month award in recognition of their professionalism and dedication.

Maria Wyatt, Senior Sister, said: “The team are helping to save lives and keep patients, staff and visitors safe. I’m so proud of the way they have pulled together to deliver this fantastic service.  Staff have gone without breaks and have stood swabbing patients and staff in the pouring rain to make things work. They have shown resilience and have adapted to the ever-changing health needs of the people we care for.”
