A dental nurse at County Hospital has been recognised for the way she helped to support her team throughout the pandemic. Sue Hanson went above and beyond her role, creating and sending weekly newsletters to her colleagues so they could stay updated. She also made it her mission to stay on top of government guidelines so that everyone on the team knew what they had to do to care for patients safely.

Sue has been given the Employee of the Month award in acknowledgement of her work.

Sally Walker, clinic manager, said: “Sue’s efforts have helped us to get through this challenging time. It has been a learning curve for all of us but she has really gone above and beyond to ensure the safety of staff and patients within the department.

“We’ve gone through a number of service changes recently and Sue has helped introduce these new ways of working fantastically well, whilst continuing to offer extra support to the whole team.”

Sue said: “I feel it is a great honour to be given this award, I love my job and am part of a great team. Together we have faced great challenges and have had to implement many changes. I feel very proud of all that we have achieved.”
