Covid ward thanked by CEO

Staff on one of UHNM’s original Covid wards have been thanked for their dedication and spirit during the pandemic. The team demonstrated extraordinary compassion throughout this challenging time, helping to ensure end-of-life patients had as much contact with their relatives as possible and even moving married couples into the same bays so they could be together.

Ward 126 have now been given the Team of the Month award in recognition of their exemplary attitude and contribution to patient care.

Lee Ann Boardman, Matron, said: “Every member of the team worked in partnership with each other to provide a safe and inclusive environment for patients. They showed exceptional resilience during the first wave of Covid and as we enter the second wave they are no different. Each member of staff has risen to the challenge of becoming a Covid ward for the second time, using their experiences to enhance their provision of care. They are a fantastic example of living the trust values and have shown that, despite ongoing pressures, they still want to go above and beyond to improve the experience for patients and relatives.”

Tracy Bullock, Chief Executive, presented the team with their award.

Tracy said: “Each and every member of the team deserves this award and I can only thank them for their diligence and dedication. They are so upbeat in spite of a very difficult year, something which can be attributed to good leadership. It’s evident that this team is a supportive one and I know that they will continue to work hard and do their best as we enter the second wave.”
