UHNM Charity win team of the month

UHNM Charity have scooped Team of the Month after pulling out the stops to ensure staff, patients and their families had a great Christmas despite being in hospital. The team organised a month long programme of events at both County and Royal Stoke from carol singing and Christmas light switch on ceremony to welcoming special visitors such as Star Wars characters and reindeer. The team also ran a successful present appeal in partnership with The Sentinel to ensure those who were unfortunate to be in hospital over Christmas received a gift.

Michelle Rhodes, Chief Nurse, said: "UHNM Charity are a small team but this year they really pulled together to achieve a lot over a short space of time, putting on more events than ever before. Arranging these events takes an enormous amount of time, effort and coordination and has a direct positive impact on staff. As we all know, happy staff means happy patients, so it really is important to help raise staff morale wherever possible. The team have worked above and beyond their usual remit to make this Christmas really special for patients and staff alike – not to mention sorting and distributing over 1000 gifts! We all appreciate their hard work very much."

UHNM Charity have been given the Team of the Month award in recognition of their outstanding effort.

This year the team organised a Christmas present campaign, held tree-lighting ceremonies and arranged for over 20 school choirs and groups to perform at Royal Stoke and County Hospital.

They also held a 'best-dressed Christmas tree' competition, a 'Wear it Festive Day' and facilitated visits from Stoke City FC, Port Vale and the cast of the Regent panto.
