Surgeon Team

Mr Shilajit Ghosh was appointed as a Thoracic surgeon at the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust in 2007. He set up the thoracic surgical programme at UHNM. His special interests are Minimal Access Surgery, chest wall surgery and Airway surgery and interventions. He has been the Clinical Lead for Thoracic Surgery since 2010. He has been intricately involved in training and teaching and is currently the Training Programme Director for Cardiothoracic Surgery for the West Midlands Deanery, member of the Specialist Advisory Committee for CTh Surgery and FRCS Part III Examiner.

 

I was appointed to my consultant post in 2020, having completed my training in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Royal Papworth Hospital, Norfolk and Norwich, Liverpool Heart and Chest and Wythenshawe Hospitals. I also undertook a VATs Lobectomy fellowship in 2016 -2018 at Bristol Royal Infirmary. My main areas of interest are thoracic oncology, specifically minimally invasive lung cancer resection and enhanced recovery following surgery. I have a strong interest in education and research and am a founding member of the North-West Thoracic Surgical Research Collaborative.
