Skin Outpatient Service established at County Hospital thanks to £3.5 million investment

As part of the 40th anniversary celebrations for County Hospital, we’re meeting some of the amazing staff who provide the best-possible care to patients every day.

Say hello to Rachel Sayfritz, Junior Sister and Dawn Hilditch from the Skin Unit, a small team of 13 who treat hundreds of patients each month.

Dawn said: “We’ve been here six years now and are a dual speciality, seeing dermatology and speciality patients requiring plastic surgery. We see a range of different patients with dermatological conditions such as eczema and psoriasis, and apply dressings for specialities like post-operative skin cancer patients from our Theatres. We also provide some light treatments.”

“It’s lovely here, I always look forward coming to work. It’s a nice environment, everybody is friendly, and the patients reflect this in feedback.”

Rachel added: “There is a sense of family here, and we felt that more going through Covid. We supported each other through that and became closer. Because it was quite scary time, we carried on all the way through because of skin cancer patients that required treatment.”
