Rachel Cartlidge, Nursing assistant

Nomination:
Rachel Cartlidge, Nursing assistant

Rachel showed obvious spark, initiative and dedication - qualities that were immediately recognised within the allergies department. The first non staff nurse to learn how to do skin pricks she rapidly took on independent support of the allergy clinic as well as multitude of other tasks within clinic. This is a role that in other trusts is still done by senior nurses sometimes ANPs .

Inspired to continue the amazing progress she made Rachel enrolled on a nursing assistant course and passed. She embodies the tenacity and spirit  valued at UHNM. Not only has she taken on roles ably she has frequently demonstrated and taught the medical and nursing students who follow patients through clinics which requires a whole new level of expertise and confidence.

Rachel is always positive and helpful, showing the kind of initiative that pointed out her potential in the first place. Rachel has a lovely manner is kind and considerate of patients but as importantly colleagues. She smiles a lot even when faced with difficulties and always approaches challenges calmly. Rachel is efficient and productive and never moans when clinics occasionally overrun unpredictably. Rachel is a quiet unassuming unsung hero.
