UHNM Research and Education Vision

To undertake world-class applied health services research and innovation in collaboration with regional partners that generates significant improvements to the delivery of our clinical services and the enhanced care of our patients.  The vision will also see a significant increase in the participation of patients and staff in research activities, together with a significant increase in NMAHP staff leading research and undertaking academic professional development through Masters and Doctoral programmes, and the creation of a clinical academic career pathway.

CeNREE Strategy

  • Ensure an environment in which students, postdoctoral fellows, and staff are provided with the support needed to realise their goals and aspirations as they relate to research and innovation;
  • Support integration of research and innovation in student curricula and co-curricula experience;
  • Engage students and trainees in research experiences that prepare them for a broad set of roles;
  • Ensure that all of our undergraduate and professional students have opportunities to engage in research and innovation experiences;
  • Communicate and celebrate the value of our research and innovation achievements.
  • Provide an environment and support mechanisms that are conducive to research and attract top staff, students and trainees;
  • Emphasise peer-reviewed research, publications, and related creative and professional contributions of our members;
  • Form multi-professional collaborations;
  • Act in a leading capacity in the Integrated Care System (ICS) for Research and Innovation.
  • Support engagement and inclusive collaboration with peer institutions and a diverse array of industry, professional, public sector, government, community, and civil partners;
  • Provide a competitive pump-priming funding stream to help staff to develop research proposals;
  • Provide a Fellowship Support infrastructure that will enable successful applications to the NIHR funding pathway, and subsequently others such as MRC, ESRC, charitable organisations;
  • Recruit passionate staff to the leadership team within CeNRIE who can drive forward a change in culture for research across UHNM.
  • Provide all members of our scholarly community with the tools they need to be successful and competitive, including a resource hub and an improved website;
  • Support the implementation of standardised quality measures and standard operating procedures to improve research processes and governance to increase efficiency;
  • Have a rapid review team who can look at the best evidence for updating practice policy guidelines;
  • Encourage a philosophy of wanting to change and share best practice.
