Continuity of Care - The Alton Team

Jane Haywood

Jane Haywood

As a community midwife for 11 years I have loved the relationships and trust I have developed with women and their families from their first appointment with me, through to discharging them to the care of the health visitor.

After supporting women throughout their pregnancies one thing I have always missed is being their and providing care for them during labour and birth. The continuity model allows me to care for women throughout their whole journey and I feel privileged to be a part of it.

I once had the benefit of receiving continuity of care from a small team of fabulous Midwives 24 years ago when I had my own baby. It had such a positive impact on my pregnancy and birth. These Midwives inspired me follow my own dream to become a Midwife. I'm excited to have the amazing opportunity to provide this care to the women I care for. We can do this together .

I am most looking forward to being able to share all aspects of midwifery care with the women in the continuity of carer team. Being there for women from the very start of their pregnancy, looking after then whilst they deliver their babies and being able to support them afterwards, this is a very privileged position and journey I will be very proud to share.

I am privileged to be a midwife which I thoroughly enjoy. I enjoy being with women and their families providing care and support at such a special time in their lives. I am really looking forward to being part of the continuity team as this will enable me to provide support to ladies and their families along all steps of the journey during the pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. I am looking forward to shaping care to individuals needs, building relationships and hopefully achieving the best outcomes for all.

I am a Specialist Maternity Assistant and am very excited to be part of The Bridgewater Midwifery Team. Providing women centred maternity care with such a great team of colleagues is an honour. The cohort of women we support can be challenging but also very rewarding. I have a wealth of knowledge I can’t wait to share. #TheBridgewaterTeam

COC has always been an area of interest since qualifying, therefore this opportunity allows me to be able to support and empower women through a significant period in their life whilst developing as a midwife.

I have been a midwife for just under 30 years. My most fulfilling time in my career has been caring for younger mums and their families. My only regret has been not being able to support these women whilst they labour. I am looking forward to working with women and helping them to achieve the best possible outcomes. Helping a young woman develop into a wonderful young mother is a true privilege and joy I am really excited to work with this caring and skilled team offering continuity to this group of exceptional women

Continuity of Carer for me means that I will be better able to build trusting relationships with the women I care for. By being able to diary manage my own workload I can also offer more flexible appointments to families and ensure that their needs are met.

My name is Tracey Byatt and I am looking forward to doing continuity not only to give support to the women but also to make their pregnancy and labour memorable and lovely. I also hope to support the midwives in order to allow them the time they require to fully support the women.

I am really excited to begin our journey as the Bridgewater team. The word midwife means to be 'with women'.

I think providing continuity of care for women and their families through pregnancy, labour and into the postnatal period truly lives up to this meaning. I look forward to meeting you!

One of my bug bears during this time is how I have not been there for my girls when they are at their most vulnerable, In labour. This new initiative allows me to be able to “be with woman” right through these times. The relationship that we have with our woman is one of a special trust bond. Continuity allows us to see our ladies through from beginning to end. How fantastic!!!!
