Audit team helping to improve cardiology care

UHNM’s audit team are helping to improve cardiology care for patients. The team produce patient questionnaires relating to quality of life, patient satisfaction and other patient-facing information. The feedback gathered is used to audit patient experience and outcomes against published national and international data and ultimately helps to enhance the care and service patients receive.

Dr Dargoi Satchi, consultant cardiologist, said: “I am involved in a lot of service improvement work with NHS England. The clinicians and managers involved in the project get a lot of publicity for the work and its positive results, but I think it’s also really important to recognise the work of the audit team.

“With their can-do attitude they find a way to get patient’s voices heard in their own valuable way and we really appreciate this as clinicians.”

The team also curate the data and collate it so that it can be used to produce detailed reports relating to patient care. Their work has been recognised by the hospital’s chief executive Tracy Bullock.

Tracy said: “The team have really gone above and beyond to help us get an idea of patient experience. It’s really important to hear patent’s voices and they enable and facilitate that.

“Sometimes we heavily focus on the work of clinical teams but it’s essential to acknowledge that other people in the background are also doing an important job and make a real difference to our patients.”
