New Covid service helping vulnerable patients

The team on County Hospital’s ward 14 have been thanked for setting up a Covid medicine delivery unit during the height of winter pressures. The service provides administration of neutralising monoclonal antibody (nMAbs) treatment to manage symptoms of Covid-19 for non-hospitalised patients. The treatment provided through the service has made a significant difference to vulnerable patients with Covid.

Stacey Boyjoo, matron, said: “The team took on this task with no additional workforce resource and have provided this exceptional new service to patients coming in from the community. Often these patients are already very unwell, but because of the team’s work people can have prolonged lives and reduced symptoms.

“We started this service during the height of winter, but despite this patient feedback has been exceptional. I’m very proud.”

Staff have been given the Team of the Month award in recognition of their dedication.
