Cancer patients invited to share their experiences

Alison Falkonakis, UHNM dietitian

Staff, patients and family members connected to the chemotherapy units at Royal Stoke and County Hospital are being invited to write and share their experiences of cancer treatment. UHNM dietitian and published children’s author Alison Falkonakis and local poet John Mills are inviting people to contribute towards a collection of poems, thoughts and drawings which will be gathered over a six-month period.

The team plan to combine contributions into a printed booklet for others to benefit from.

Alison said: “We want to bring people encouragement and comfort and we think that others sharing their experience is a good way to do this. Through having met John again on the unit, I have become aware of other staff members and patients who write or use art as a form of expression. There is a whole host of hidden talent out there!

“Contributions can be in whatever format people prefer, whether it’s a full poem, piece of short prose, or a drawing.”

For ease of printing the team ask that drawings or doodles are done in black and white.

If you would like to contribute something, please complete the below form or hand your contributions in to the main reception desk on either of the chemotherapy units. This can be done anonymously if preferred.
