Midlands East and West Excellence in Supply Awards 2021

UHNM’s Integrated Supplies and Procurement Department (ISPD) has won the ‘NHS Transformation Project of the Year’ award at the East and West Midlands Excellence in Supply Awards 2021. The ISPD, who support The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust , University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust and Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, won the NHS Procurement Transformation award for their work developing a Pan ICS integrated Supplies and Procurement model which spans the Staffordshire and Stoke and Trent and Black Country health care systems. This work includes restructuring the set-up and running of the procurement departments to provide a more streamlined, capable and cost effective approach.

The team have also received NHS Standards of Procurement accreditation certificates for UHNM Level 2, RWT Level 1 & 2 and WHT Level 1.

Nathan Joy-Johnson, Director of Procurement, said: “It is an important award as it is the first award we have won which includes our new colleagues from Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust. The Level 2 Standard accreditation is the highest level which can be currently achieved within the NHS and it demonstrates the excellent work that the Procurement teams have established and maintained across all Trusts represented. It also encourages the continuous development of the procurement function through increasing professional standards and on-going development, which ultimately ensures that we are able to meet the increasing challenges of the changing local, regional and national agenda and more importantly deliver overall better value for all the Trusts we represent”

The team will now go forward to representing the East and West Midlands region in the HCSA National Awards next month.
