CRIS team shortlisted for Nursing Times Award

The Community Rapid Intervention Service (CRIS) team have been shortlisted for a Nursing Times Awards under the category of Community Team of the Year. CRIS is a joint partnership between University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) and Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and combines senior hospital consultant decision-making skills with community health and care admissions avoidance expertise.

It aims to support more people to stay at home instead of being taken to hospital and provides rapid assessment, monitoring, treatment and facilitates care and support to be provided at home for up to five days to prevent unnecessary attendances and admissions to hospital.

Tracy Bullock, Chief Executive for UHNM, said: “It is a fantastic achievement even to be shortlisted and a true reflection of the hard work, dedication and teamwork of everyone involved. We’ll be keeping a close eye on the results and send the team our best wishes as they await the announcement.”

In addition to paramedics and ambulance crews, people can be referred to the CRIS team by GPs from North Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, care homes, mental health services, social care staff, other community services and NHS111.

Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Wednesday 27 October at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane in London.
