Normally when people talk about 'benefits' they really mean 'perks' - the little extras that make your work life easier and your personal life more rewarding. Well, we mean more than that. Our benefits package is complete and includes a support network and training schemes which are already recognised as being first class. But don't take our word for it: we've been awarded 'Practice Plus' standard within the NHS 'Improving Working Lives' framework striving for model employer's status.
Pension - the NHS is one of the very few employers who still offer a retirement package based on either your final salary or a percentage of your pay over your whole career.
Pay - is subject to annual review and reflects responsibilities and skills. The pay scales are incremental and so allow for year on year progression (to a maximum of course) Each year a cost of living award is usually received, although this is non contractual and the amount varies. Click here for more information on Pay and Contracts
Holidays - you'll receive at least 27 days holiday per year. The entitlement rises when certain service milestones are achieved. Holiday minimums exclude Bank Holidays as these are given over and above.
Childcare support - We offer flexible working patterns plus information, advice and affordable high quality childcare.
Carer support - you'll benefit from flexible working, special leave policies and advice on relevant external expert organisations.
A working life to match the changing life you lead - This gives you the chance to vary your working life as circumstances change in your life outside work. When you want more choices than the normal 9-5 pattern allows, there is scope for part-time working, job sharing and term-time working, as well as evening, weekend work and career breaks. Of course these arrangements need to be applied for and must not damage the service we provide.
Maximising your personal potential - We're committed to offering development and learning opportunities, whether you're full-time or part-time, to extend your range of skills and knowledge, enabling you to realise your full potential.
Promoting Equality and Diversity - The NHS strives to reflect the many different communities it serves. There is no place for discrimination in the NHS on the grounds of ethnicity, disability, gender, sexual orientation, religion/belief, age, working patterns and marital status. Positive efforts are made to recruit staff from the many diverse sections of society and to ensure that all staff are treated fairly.
